The Mind Behind the Madness

A Little Bit About Andrew Turmon, Creator of SLINGSHOT SYMPHONY (Hey That’s Me!)

I might be wacky, but I’m not crazy enough to write about myself in the third person. That said, I am one of my favorite topics, so pull up a chair and I’ll tell you a little about me.

Born with a crayon in hand and a passion for art, I’ve been drawing ever since. Illustration, graphic design, visual storytelling, if it involved scribbling, sketching, or creating worlds, I was in love from day one. I took my first art classes around age five and never stopped, eventually studying graphic art at South Tech University in Boynton Beach, Florida.

My life changed course when my children were born. I hit pause on the art dream to focus on providing for my family and spent over 30 years working as a builder in the construction industry. (Yeah, I know, builder by day, cartoonist by night. How very superhero of me.) Still, I never drifted too far from the drawing board. I picked up freelance gigs in graphic design and illustration here and there, took a few college classes, and even did some line and color work for Viper Comics along the way.

Now that my kids are grown and having their own adventures, I’m circling back to mine: telling stories, drawing characters, and finally bringing my own comic universe to life.

So buckle up, folks, things are about to get weird in the best possible way!
